    Default Barred Owl

Taken yesterday in the wild, as we had this owl for about 5 hours of shooting, several different perches, we watched it hunt, and eat voles. A very wonderful day for myself and my friends. No cloning, as I prefered to leave this one as is.

1/3 sec, f7.1, iso 200 almost full frame.

    c/c always welcome., take care.

Wonderful capture. Love the look and the environment. Agree with not cloning stuff out of this one.

Great shot, normally the eyes are soooo dark, these have some
catchlight from the sky. Love the composition and crop.

Nice image showing environment, the colors on this Owl bang on, sharp. If I was a vole, I'd be afraid of that stare. Like it very much as presented...Were you at the Owl Woods?

Hi Raymond, I love it and really like the inclusion of the habitat. The snow is a big plus for me. The owl is pretty darn nice with a pleasing pose. I wouldn't remove anything but I might be tempted to see if toning down the bright spots (middle left) would help has they tend to draw my attention. Overall very nice and thanks much for sharing.

Beautiful shot Raymond, I agree with leaving the environment exactly as shot.

These owls can be suprisingly tolerant of humans as this one seemed to have been and you took full advantage of it with great results. Nice even light on that classic look-back owl pose. Good detail for a 1/3 sec. SS.

Lovely looking owl, nice environmental BG and good composition! If anything I would have tried to exclude the bright patches in the left of the BG while shooting, not a big deal though as it also adds to the environmental feel. Oh yeah I love the snow!

    Hi Ray,
Nice detail and a good idea of environment on this shot. There seems to be a lot of Barred Owls out this time of year back east or at least a lot of people posting them lately on BPN. You were lucky to get a cooperative one as most of these guys fly off for me just as I get the camera set up :-)

    Take care,

    Steve
