As promised - further adding to "BPN Squirrel Week"...a close-up study of the Southern Tree Squirrel (hope I got the name right Betsie?). Taken in a hide in the Kruger National Park in July 2009.

To those who live far away from Africa - I'm off to Kruger again on Friday - enjoy the office!!;)

I quite like the bokeh to the left.

    Techs:
    Canon 1000D with 100-400mm L IS USM @ 200mm
    f7.1 @ 1/250 SS @ ISO-400

Nice close-up and shallow DOF Morkel! Can't recall the exact name of the species occurring in SA- there are 5 arboreal species in southern africa, only one of them here, rest Zim/Moz way iirc. Enjoy your Kruger time and get us some more squirrels to post in the "Return of the Squirrel" theme :).

Hey Morkel - A cute little guy with pointy ears. Another sort of rat squirrel. I too like the bokeh.
