Joshua: A super first post! Warm welcome to BPN! To my novice eye this appears to have it all: good exposure, eye contact, BG, color, fine feather detail and composition. Wish it were mine. You might consider a pass of NR on the background but otherwise I would leave it as is.

Hi Joshua, Pretty nice looking red-bellied woodpecker. Exposure and sharpness look good to me. I also think the head angle works as it is angle slightly towards us. I like the diagonals the tree and the pose of the bird introduces. I like the background and the tree bark has enough detail/texture to add interest for me. For my personal taste you could take a little off the top. In a perfect world it would be nice to see the entire tail. How ever pretty darn nice as presented. Thanks for sharing.

Just great! Beautiful colour and sharpness. I don't know if you can bring out more detail in the breast feathers. That would be nice.
The dark shadow on the along the bark of the tree creates a nice strong line. Very nice.

Nice first post. Good exposure, HA, and composition. The OOF branches in the BG are mildly distracting. I agree on the BR, and some fill flash with the shadows on the edge of the tree. Still a very nice image.

    Looking forward to more.

Nice first image, Joshua. Classic shot of a popular, at least in Missouri, and beautiful woodpecker. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Welcome.

It looks pretty good in my eyes, and welcome to the forum, and awesome place to learn.
I might trim a bit off the top and do another round of noise reduction on the BG.
Great bird, a species i haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet.
