    Default Grey Seal Pup 2

    Hi there

Following on from my shot yesterday of a young grey Seal pup, taken in the sandblaster that is Donna Nook, here in the UK. I post another one this time of one not quite so covered in sand, and heading back up the beach as his afternoon nap had been interrupted by the incoming tide.

I like the way the water spray on his face almost looks like a tear and hopefully reminds photographers not to get too close to these wonderful creatures as it can lead to the Mother abandoning the pup and a slow death from starvation. didn't see anyone getting too close on my visit but it does happen.

"Take only pictures and leave only footprints" but we must be careful of the pictures we take and where we place those footprints.

Another sweet image of a seal pup and the "tear" is a neat addition here although the little guy looks pretty happy to me. I like this one a little better than the first but it needs a little CCW rotation and I would like to see more room on top and less room on bottom. Thanks, John.

I like the color tone of this one as well. Agree with Danny on the CCW rotation. I'm okay with more space on the bottom as it shows a slight reflection.

    Hi John

Mother abandoning the pup and a slow death from starvation
Unfortunately John with this location people who go there are a mixed bunch, some who know how to approach, look for signs of distress and to give space etc, however, there are a few who have no idea. There have been instances of people moving day old pups to get a better angle with their wide angle lens. The mother will then abandon the pup to the inevitable! I will not go there.

OK to the image, I feel it's a bit too tight in the frame and the subject doesn't have enough room to breathe. I would also agree with the advice given earlier. The light & colour looks good and it still has that 'cute' factor.

Beautiful pose John with nice detail, the innocent look is well captured here, only nit is it's a little tight in the framing.

This is really nice. Like the low angle and the details in the face and the water droplets. Like the way the background color matches the foreground color.
