    Default Harris's Hawk( juvenile)

Harris's hawk is a rare sighting in the Dallas area. And I found one sitting on a wire next to a busy freeway :-) Incredible luck. The photos created a buzz among the birders here.

    40D. 300 f/4 non-IS and 1.4x. iso 320. f/6.3. 1/1250.

    all opinions welcome.

Congratulations on this find. I do like the head turn. Too bad that the perch wasn't nicer but I'd still be pleased to have seen this bird.

Nice look-back pose, light and sharpness. I only wish for a lower angle and a nicer perch, but then, I would be happy to see this species in the field.

The rarity of this species for your area makes the perch a very far secondary element here. I still do wish it was better though! Nice look-back pose.

Thanks all. In a way I am happy he perched where he did. I'd have never seen him from my car if he had been anywhere else. I wanted a flight shot...waited until sun went down...but the dude never took off.

Love the catch light and pose. I believe these are the ones that do a team hunt of rabbits.

Here is wishing you a better perch next time.

    Cheers.
