    Default Harlequin Duck

Photographed at Barnegat Light last week. This is my favorite duck species, not only because of the beautiful plumage but they are also fun to watch since there is a lot of interaction. Their calls are not very duck-like. If you are not familiar with it, here you can find an audio clip: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/H...in_Duck/sounds

Axel, Nice pose and head angle. I like the details and the water reflected in the feathers at the base of the duck. I'm hoping for a bit more light when I go back.

Well done Axel. I love teh cocked head and catchlight in the eye. I've only seen this beautiful species once in failing evening light.

    Axel,
I like the tail up alert looking pose. Good exposure on the whites. Lots of these guys out here on the left coast.

No, he was posing for me. :) Actually, there was another male duck that he tried to impress.
