Please help me confirm the ID on this bird. It is a new species to my backyard and I think I identified it properly but would appreciate some help. Is it is a Yellow-rumped Warbler, probably first winter? Thanks to everyone in advance.

Looks like a yellow-rumped warbler to me, too.

AKA Myrtle Warbler, a name I like so much more than the new one!

Can we get an analysis of the plumage- is this bird a young of the year or simply an adult in Basic plumage?

I think this is an eastern race, male Yellow Rump in non-breeding plumage, brownish head with white eye strip, white throat patch, lightly striped breast, yellow on flank. Having said all this...in the fall Yellow-rumps are some of the hardest to age and sex.

    Hi All,

Given how dark the auriculars are and combined with some blue tones in the lesser coverts? and upper tail coverts I would say that this is a fall adult male. I would doubt then an immature bird would show these blue tones.
