    I don't do flight shots very often so this is a new one for me. Taken free hand out of my car window at Colusa National Wildlife Refuge along the auto tour.

    Canon 50D
    Canon 100-400 @ 400
    ISO 400
    F10.0 @ 1/800th sec.

    Love the full stretch wing and the image looks sharp. The white on the cheek is not lost so I might try to pull some details on that. Wish that we could see the other wing too.

    Chris, I assume this was manual, nice one. Might trade a stop of aperture for a stop of shutter.

    Nice find, I think this is a Ross's Goose. The bill is smaller than that of a Snow Goose.

    Good Catch Axel,

    You are right now that i took a closer look at it. There is some blue on the bill. There are quite a few Ross geese mixed in at the Sacramento Refuge complex.I wasn't even thinking about that fact.

    Ross's it is !! Good exposure and like seeing the upward wing stroke, wish the other was up also !! Bird is just turning from you but like the capture !!!
