    Default Red Finch

Saw this little guy after our first real snow this weekend. Pretty sure its a Red Finch. I know the BG isn't great, but I did like the lighting and colors. Was morning light, no flash. No major mods, just cropped a bit.

    Tech Specs:
Camera Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark II
    Flash Used: No
    Focal Length: 400.0mm
    Exposure Time: 0.0008 s (1/1250)
    Aperture: f/5.6
    ISO equiv: 200
    Metering Mode: Matrix
    Exposure: Manual

Jim, Beautifully exposed with plenty of detail. Some won't like the square comp but I don't mind it. Wish the stick wasn't running through the bird in the BG though. Still a good image overall.

Beautiful sharpness and detail. Looks like a molting house finch to me.

I like the light, sharpness and snow and wish the branch in the BG were not there. A lower angle would be nice, too. I agree, it is a House Finch.

Well captured in beautiful lighting and I like the excellent detail and eye contact . ditto Axel's comment on the branch . Many thanks for sharing.
