I love it when we start getting a lot of squirrels on here. Here a Callifornia Ground Squirrel climbs an earthen mound for a better look around. A habit that often makes them easy to find on fence posts beside the highways in and around California's Central Valley.

Nice looking squirrel Chris. I like the mound, BG, and the way his tail lays along the edge. I also like the visible horizon and sun in his eye. I think I'm seeing a slight lightening halo around the head but I'm not sure if that's just a brighter BG spot or not.
Great shot, Chris. Really pops against the background. This one definitely has bigger ears than the Columbian I submitted yesterday. I think it thinks its a prairie dog though.
