Default Theme: Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Morning - Version 2.0

You saw the vertical pan/in-camera blur version of this composition below. This is the digital sandwiched (you may refer to it as the Orton Effect) version of the same basic comp. Different look, feel and mood.

    Same set up (50D/24-70/on tripod)

    1/2 sec @ f/16; ISO 100; -1/3 EV

Ed, Very moody looking. I like the effect very much. The pan blur was special and in my opinion hard to top. This one comes close! I might take a sliver off the left for this one. On the pan blur the left had some interesting curved lines that were too cool to crop and were important to the flow IMO. Nice work.

Love it, Ed...might tone down the blue tones just on the snow that is covering the trees in the FG. Everything else looks eerie yet peaceful - like another snow is on the way...

Wow! Very nice, Ed! Love the color tones and orton effect. Really captures the magical feel of winter.

    Denise, Jules, Paul, Christopher,

I thank you all for your comments and feedback. I do like both versions bur I must admit that, for my tastes, I prefer the first version with the blur. But it is different strokes for different folks which is why I attacked the composition with different techniques and they both work.

I'm a fan of the Orton technique and love this version. All the cool tones are very appropriate here. Nice work!

Ed, I like this equally as well as the blur. It looks rather magical and looks like there's a small path into the
woods on the right side which gives it intrigue to me.
