    Default Common Goldeneye

I absolutely love Vancouver Island in the winter months. From December through March there are so many opportunitied for bird photography. Ducks are especially prevelant and we are blessed to have some unbelievable hotspots here.

    Here's one from yesterday :)

Wow, very nice male of Common GoldenEye. Are this species approachable? What impress me the most is your ability of capturing a nice bif with that set-up.

They are generally pretty shy...but here on Vancouver Island they are pretty tame...

Great image Glenn, the Common and Barrows are showing up in good numbers down here also so hopefully I'll get a chance to get some keepers like this one! Great flight shot, love the underwing detail and the fact that you managed to get that green head colour and keep detail in the blacks - which isn't so easy to do without completely blowing out the whites. Great quality of light up in BC! Congrats.
