caught this guy last weekend at crandon park. he was doing some serious scratching while flying.

i had to add some canvas left and bottom. it was too big in the frame. it was also just a tad underexposed. i brought a little detail out in ACR and the rest with a reflector effect in nik color efex pro.

    D300, 300mm, f/4, 1/5000s, ISO 640, 0EV. could have sacrificed some ISO and added some DOF. amateur!:o

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Great capture Buddy. Decided to go to Shark Valley this afternoon. No one wanted to drive to Wako and I didn't feel like going by myself. I'll post something tomorrow.

Wow, Harold, another super fast shutter speed shot :D

Just want to say I wish the eye were visible :)

Looking good Harold Just the eye for me Lovely pose and good PS work but they look odd without the eye !!

... btw I have often thought of experimenting using high shutter speeds for these birds, when they hover those wing tips are moving mighty fast !!!

When I was out looking for terns I saw many gulls scratching their head in mid air too, but didn't manage to capture them like you did. Love how position the bird in frame, TFS.
