Hi Patrice, The pose and head angle here are very nice but this one is to tight all around for my taste. The feathers seem to lack crispness and the colors seem muted; was this a big crop?

Thanks Patrice for the info and the image. I selected the bird, used Refine Edge, and then sharpened the bird with a Contrast Mask at 20/80/1. All as described in our Digital Basics File: https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=252
With the vertical branch on the right, I am fine with the bird-in-the middle composition. You were certainly guilty of cropping to tightly. See the chapter on Advanced Composition in ABP II (916 pages on CD only): https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/ca....aspx?catid=32
