D90; 80-400 VR @ 260 mm; ISO 200, f/6.3 @ 1/500s; Matrix metering @ -1.3 EV. Aperture priority. HH.

The light was nice just before sunset, the running-in-air pose intriguing. I have been using ISO 400 as a default but for some reason I had it set at 200 here. A higher SS might have frozen the motion just a bit more sharply. C&C welcome.

Bill, Great walking or should I say running pose! The image looks a bit dark to me. Head angle and details look good.Nice composition. You've been getting some good shorebirds.

Hi Bill,
I like the running capture, you have a good head angle and eye contact. I like the fine feather details...would have liked to have seen a lower capture angle. The quality and tone of the water is very nice...a higher ISO would have frozen the subject's movement dead in his track...looking forward to your next one...good show...:cool:

Thanks Gus and Denise. Axel's comments on Avian have gotten me worried about burning the whites, so maybe I overcompensated. Is this any better?

Hi Bill Not sure about he re post? Like the original better !! Would only crop a very small amount top and bottom, sort of accentuates the forward motion !!

Speed wise it doesn't look bad at all !! btw these guys look great when you can do a motion blur, works great later in the day when the light is harsher !!!
