These are pretty cool birds. They never just take flight when I try to get close - they just fly about 25 feet away. Then I try again, and they fly 25 feet away again. Not quite close enough for a detailed shot with my 400mm. This one time I lucked out and I think I managed to get less than 15 feet away. Comments and criticisms welcome.

Light, angle and sharpness look good. I wish for a bit more head turn toward you and a more uniform BG. Keep them coming!

Hey James - Razor sharp portrait of a sparrow I don't have in my portfolio yet. I'm up to about 10 and have been trying to get this one. I like the light here and the perch is isn't bad either. Too bad about the split-toned bokeh but still a nice image.

Nice light and detail. The split BG doesn't bother me as it starts to change at a good spot.

You certainly were close. Nice clean shot, lots of sharp details and a good perch. I really like the light. Nicely done. Dave

The head and beak look great, if you were using a tripod I would have stopped down a bit to get the tail in focus as it looks like the bg wasn't close enough to cause a distraction.
