hey all, wondering if anyone else is using this head?
I upgraded recently and have been quite impressed with the build quality and steadiness of this head.

Yes I bought it together with a Gitzo 5531S for with my Sigma 300-800mm. For me is the best combination I ever used. It balances wonderfully and I particularly like the horizontal switch lock when carrying the camera+lens mounted on the tripod.
Dave, Jobu Design is a Canadian company http://www.jobu-design.com/index.html .
I was particularly impressed with their customer service, i had one of their lightweight gimbals (BWG-LW) previously and had a mishap with the locking pin, they called me twice from the east coast and promply sent out a new replacement pin.
They also offered me one of their BWG-Pro's at cost for my trouble and of course i went for it.
I went from a side-mount to this top-mount and have noticed an improvement in picture quality, i'm attributing it to the head for sure.
Paul,
I see you have some LensCoat stuff on your gear so I thought you might like to know that LensCoat now has covers for your Jobu head http://www.lenscoat.com/gimbal-covers-c-6.html Artie should have some in stock shortly.
We are a dealer for Jobu and I have to echo Paul's comments--Jobu is a first class company with excellent products.
In addition to the BWG Pro they make a regular sized (Wimberley sized) gimbal head called the Black Widow Heavy Duty Mark II for lenses up to and including a 500.
Jobu also makes great lens plates, a nice monopod and just shipped us a triple axis bubble level.
We've never had an issue with their stuff--everything is very well engineered and built.
I just ordered the Jobu BWG Pro because of my recent purchase of a 300 - 800 5.6 Sigma.
I found my Kirk Gimbal head would not tighten up with this big lens.
The one I ordered has an extra bearing for extreme cold conditions.
Should show up on Tuesday.
