    Default Black-capped Chickadee

Got this the other evening. Wish it did not perch where it did, as the fork in the branch I believe is a bit distracting, but its a natural shot and it is what it is.

Hope you enjoyed, as always C&C welcome.

The bird looks great! I don't mind the perch (in fact I kind of like it), although I wish it were a little smaller in diameter.

Jason...I liked the perch too. Excellent image. Loved the comp and the sharpness. The bird's colors echoed in the BG make this one special. Did you use flash? If so, then a little less flash compensation would have made it better.

Background, sharpness / detail and exposure are all wonderful.

Perch may not be 100% optimal...but it is natural and I like it :)

Nice image, Jason. I echo your sentiments with regards to the perch, but the background's harmony with the bird's flanks is sweet.

I like the sharpness, angle, exposure control and eye contact. I agree that a slightly thinner perch might be good and wish the BG at the left and right side were more uniform.

No fill flash, just a late evening blast of sun! The bg bothered me just a touch too, the complimentary color is actually a Catalpa tree trunk. Just a bit closer and I could have avoided this, note to self on that. They are using this spot so heavily in the evenings I am going to set up some smaller perches in hopes to getting some more images. Tufted Titmouse, BC Chickadee's, both House and Purple Finches, and White-breasted Nuthatches are really working this spot over on their way through the yard to some feeders on the other side of the property. They bush hop from the woodline to the feeder area. Obviously taking advantage of them for their safety (Coopers Hawk and Red Shouldered Hawks) are normal visitors that make all the little ones scramble for deeper cover.

Really appreciate the kind words. I guess, if I was so inclinded, I could even out the bg in PS, but for now, I am happy enough to leave it alone and strive to get it right in camera first.

The bird is pure perfection: the head angle, sharpness, and EXP are all spot on. Though the perch could be a bit thinner the fork does not bother me; The ? in between the two parts of the fork, however, do bug the heck out of me. Lastly, I like the gray in the corner and the rest of the BKGR as well.

Here is a repost getting rid of what ever that is in the fork. Next time I am out there (tomorrow AM:D) I will see what that is.

    Thanks,

    Jason

Great representation of a chickadee, Jason. I feel like I'm looking at the real thing. Contrast and color are perfect. Don't worry about the fork - that's why they call them branches, because they branch out (smile).
