    I'm not 100% sure, but everyone here I've shown this to thinks it's a Ferruginous.

    D3, 500vr +1.7tc, f/8, 1/2000, iso 1000, ev +0.33, noiseware used.

    Nice find and good eye contact. I would sharpen the bird a bit more and would crop some off the top. It looks as if there is a slight S/H halo around the bird.

    I can't help with the id. :-( Is this a big crop? A bit more sharpening would be good.

    I'm pretty sure that's a Ferruginous Hawk David.
