Great composition and stare Gerrie, with the almost mirrored reflection, shame about FG rocks.
Do you know what was going on with the wrinkled skin on the left hind leg, quite unusual?

I agree about the rocks spoiling the reflection a little, could you have moved more to the left.

    Gerrie,

I like the lion and that reflection (w/o any debris in the pool intersecting the eyes). But I do not feel the surrounding area strengthens the image but in reverse diminishes the lion. A tighter crop with more room on the left then right would be good to investigate.

I like the stare and the reflection has come out nicely as well. a tighter crop would definitely work. I would crop from the right without cutting the tail. Also, I would crop from the top as I think the repeated patterns created by the shadows take the eye away from the lovely stare. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Hi Gerrie, a nice image, but I do think there is more detail contained in the image itself, plus a tighter crop may help. Do you have any objects to me reposting a suggestion?

They always know we are there, don't they ? and it sends shivers up the spine when they stare at you.
Agree with previous comments-the wide look does not strengthen the pic.

Thank you for viewing & commenting everyone. It is much appreciated. Have done a tighter crop and it does improve the impact.

    Gerrie

how about something like this? I still think there is more contained in your original image :-)

Hi Gerrie, I hope you didn't mind me tinkering. I don't normally like to, but reading the 'Guidelines' I thought it was OK. I can always delete it if you want, but guess you are happy with my thoughts.

    All the best.

In contrast Gerrie, I like your comp in the OP as it does add information about the Lion's environment, habitat, difficulty in living conditions. sometimes, i feel we are too obsessed in cropping tightly in forums. The repost looks slightly overdone in contrast and sat and the ideal lies somewhere between the two. Well seen.
