Default Theme: Ring Around the Susan

Initially I wasn't sure whether to keep this photo or not because the petals were all OOF. I eventually decided to keep it though because I liked the ring of tiny stars around the flower center, and now seeing the final image, I'm glad I did. :D

I did relatively little PP on this, just a curves adjustment to bring out the colors, a little S/H on the flower center, a slight blur overlay on the petals, and an inner glow layer style. Any C&C are welcome!

Christopher, You did a nice job with this. It's soft, yet full of detail. I like the tiny starts too!! The composition is good. The vignette-I could go either way.

I like it all. Nice idea to blur an already blurry photo. I've done that with an Orton-type treatment on images where they just weren't quite in focus and it works like a dream most of the time.

Beautiful yellows in this image, Chris...and the stars around the brown center add a nice touch.

    Nice image and application, Christopher.

You could try an ink outline filter, with a very low setting on the dark level. That would outline the petals and take a little of the softness away by highlighting the petal lines. But ...

    Your image ... your vision.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Mark, I could do that, but I found as I worked on this image that I came to like the softness of the petals. Might still give your suggestion a try though, just to see how it would look.

Excellent image. Love the soft look. The core stands out with those stars.
