Another backyard setup with feeder, perch and hide. 40D, 300mm f2.8L, 1/100 sec., f/6.3, iso 640 and fill flash with 430exii. Usual processing with ACR and CS4. Cloned out an out of focus branch in distant background on the left.

Nice bird, i've only come across them once before.
The head area between eye and beak looks over-sharpened a bit.
I would burn the highlights on the foot as well as trimming a bit off the right-hand side.

Sounds like a good backyard setup.

I like the pose, BG and eye contact. What flash settings did you use? I'm wondering if a little less flash would have been sufficient.

Like the pose, background and the perch.

It looks just a little hot / harsh lighting wise and I might have gone with just a little less sharpening on the body feathers?

The head looks a wee bit oversharpened, but a classic image otherwise !!!
