Here is an eagle taken with my old 20D and 400f5.6. This was taken in 2005 at Lake Coeur d’ Alene. I think the light angle is better in this than the last one I posted.

Very cool comp Ben! I really like the wing position and the eye contact! Looks nice and sharp in low light! Is the dark tail feather indicate a young bird?

Never aware of that indicator, the beak and head have the look of adult, the tail feathers look pretty much like most adults to my eyes, but it would be interesting to know for sure. Could be the low light and the tail is in shadow from this angle.

I have been going through my old work and reprocessing it, that 400 had more keepers than I realized. I sold it last year because I was using the 500f4 exclusively for birds.

I like the nice detail exposure of the bird especially considering the light background.
Not too fond of wing position since seems to be between folding and full extension, but symmetry of wings is good. The wing position could grow on me but not typical.
Like the eye and head look.

Thanks for the feedback, I am heading over to the lake tomorrow, hoping the eagles are there (a bit early). I could have timed this for full wing spread, well maybe not with the 20D, but certainly now with a 50D.

Very unusual symmetrical pose, good eye contact and fish a bonus. There is a lot of magenta on the sky, easy to fix in color balance, pulling away from the magenta.

Hi someplace I read about a way to determine color cast, but can no longer find it. I will look again. I hope this does not mean my monitor cal is off.

Edit, I found the color cast article, now off to work the image.

Followed the formula in the education section. The difference is pretty subtle.

    Ben,
I like the wing position. It is different and eye catching. The eye contact is good. I like this image.

    Cheers,
