Hi Jan
its great to see a kill , a bonus to be able to get an image aswell...
I would suggest a tighter crop loosing most of the FG would give more impact...the light conditions seem a bit harsh maybe a bit more work in needed in PS ,and some more sharpening as image appears a tad soft..
well done

A great action image well captured Jan in difficult light. If you have enough MP's a tighter crop would also suit.
Some selective toning down of the exposure would also really improve this.

Hi Jan, certainly a moment to capture and would agree with the above advice, plus at full zoom the 100-400 is not always the sharpest tool in Canons box.
In addition, you will find that to up the ISO from 400 to 800 would be better all round, with little effect to the end result. 500 or 640 isn't worth thinking about IMHO, especially when you have the light as above.
Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Amazing action packed shot , very well done here ,

Great action capture Jan!
thnks peter for advice it is always a pity that one cannot choose the time of the day that a lion kill take place, this was taken at 11:30 am.

what a sighting Jan! action well conveyed. I agree a tighter crop and some TLC could make the light seem less harsh. B&W might even be a great option here...
Well captured action shot, Jan- I like the jumping lion with straight-out tail the best! The techs are covered above, I am sure some additional pp will make it into a real winner. Thanks for sharing.
Great action shot and only wish I had one in my collection. The only other thing I might do if it were mine (which hasn't been mentioned) is warm it up a little by increasing the WB. The colors and contrast seem a bit muted because of the hot sun. I might also turn up the blacks in ACR, just a smidge to add more contrast.
Fantastic time and great action captures. I am glad I didn't see this myself.
<-------- still a softie :)
Very good action shot, is this a large crop or were you that close.
If this were mine I would spend a lot of time with it to try to get a little more colour, and possibly get more room on left and less on right.
I was about 50 meters away and full frame with 300mm on the 100-400 mm lens .I agree with your comments
jan
Great action despite the harsh light. Seeing a kill like this is one of my dreams :-)
Cheers,
Kartik
Wow these killing images are just amazing. Incredible timing and well captured !!!
Superb action and timing Jan. Hope you got a bucket load of this action. Cruel and harsh but how it is.
