Been trying to get a decent shot of these guys for a while and finally had a bit of luck last weekend.
    Taken with D90, 200-400mm + 1.4XTC @f/5.6, -0.3EV, iso 320, 1/640.
I had a to remove a strong blue/purple cast from the whites in this image (as I do with all my photos). I'm curious if it's still evident at all?

    Looking forward to your comments!

Really nice image, Graham. You captured the puffed out throat and crest perfectly. I might prefer a more standard 2:3 crop with a little off the top and bottom, but that's personal preference.

Graham: Lovely shot. The crest is at full extension, and the BG and detail look good. On my monitor there is still a very slight bluish cast to the whites, but not pronounced. I might have given him just a bit more room on the left to get closer to a 2:3 crop. Nicely done!

I like the head angle and the way the water looks in the picture. It looks like the white on the breast could be a little hot. Maybe you could try bringing out a little more detail there. I would like to be able to get a picture of a Hooded Merganser in the future.

Graham; I like the display pose; I too have slight colour cast; I haven't had much luck with this species.
