    Default IL Migrate IDs Please

Here are a couple of new birds for me that I was able to get a few shots at the past couple of week. Any help with IDs would be appreciated. Thanks.

    2. and 3. are Magnolia Warbler (has dark flank blotches) and Yellow-rumped Warbler (has yellow rump).

    1. is a grosbeak, and from your location I guess Rose-breasted is the most likely.

I agree that no. 1 is a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, looks like a male juvenile. When you ask for ID help the location can be very helpful.

    Hi There,

I agree that the first bird is a young male(not sure what winter adults of this species look like) Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Black-headed would never show that reddish triangle on the upper breast. Bird #2 is a fall adult male Magnolia Warbler and bird #3 is an immature Yellow-rumped Warbler of the Myrtle race- meaning the eastern subspecies. The overall brownish tones, with with pale supercilium and throat that extends around the cheeks ( ear coverts) and bright yellow rump seal the identification. Magnolia shows a yellow rump as well but is never that pale below or brown above.
