    Default Martial Eagle with Guineafowl

From the distance, on the floodplains in the Chobe NP, it seemed that the Martial Eagle was standing on a heap of elephant turd...! We managed to drive pretty close, without disturbing it, and it became obvious that it had just attacked but not yet killed a large Helmetted Guineafowl.

Great action. Looks like he is telling you to stay away! Colors are good. On my monitor the head looks sharp, but seems to appear like a large enough crop to lose some detail?

I like the eye contact and open beak. The plumage of the fowl seems to be beautiful. The light is a bit harsh.

Thanks for the comments - it is 80% of full frame - In my opinion, and blowing the original to full pixels, the head is pretty sharp.

Nice one Nevil, you've done a good job in what appears to be fairly harsh light.
In answer to your question - we were up at Bowra in late June with Jeff Davies and his wife and Simon Bennett. Spent 4 days there before pushing on to Bladensberg for about a week.

    cheers

Another impressive image. Like the posture, I feel the head could be a tad sharper? Light was a bit harsh, but that you could do nothing about.

Maybe this re-post with a crop to bring it close in will illustrate more detail and sharpness?

A really striking image and lucky capture. I like all of it, and the foot claiming prey is a nice bonus. I would leave a tad more space above the head. Thanks for sharing.
