    Default A Crane in Flight

Just a Crane from the Bosque. I went with a tighter-than-normal crop because I wanted to emphasize the finer details visible on the bird.

Those "finer details" are well worth showing off, Doug. I really like the colours on the upper wing; beautiful under wing detail and a great BG. Very well presented. Handholding the 600mm- not shabby:)!

    Bonjour Doug,

I like the lines and the fine details in the wings. Great shot.

    Nice one Doug!
Beautiful flight shot. The light angle is perfect for this one and the details come through nicely. I'm also partial to the open mouth.

The back edge of the rear wing could use a little repair, if your sense of ethics permits.

Nice shot Doug, details are very good, more sharpening will give it more pop...

Cool light, pose, complementing BG and the open bill adds to it. I like the idea of sharpening it more but it brought out some noise in the primaries.

Nice job, Doug, on the tight crop. I like the re post with more sharpening better.

Judging by the feedback, it seems like I've been missing the mark on sharpening lately. Thanks for the repost Arash; it looks a little oversharpened on my monitor. Here's a repost where I had the benefit of working on the full-sized file. How does this look?

This one looks good too, what kind of screen do you use?

I use a 30" calibrated Apple Cinema Display. To me a Crane's plumage doesn't have a sharp look to it, kind of like a Northern Harrier's. So my sharpening normally isn't very aggressive.

Lovely flight shot. Light and colors are wonderful - especially the upper wing colors that I had never really noticed before. Repost is an improvement. Nicely done.

Hey Doug - Your most lovely crane image of late and the repost looks even better. Just a sweet shot overall. Imagine how much better it would looked if you'd used the Wimberley (just kidding....big smile).
