    I am new to this forum and wanted to say hello and I look forward to learnig more from all of you and your critiques. I took this shot this spring aat a local lake. We had an unusually high number of nesting Snowy Egrets.

    Canon 50D
    300mm f/4 w/1.4 tc
    handheld

    Welcome and what an entrance. Nice exposure and action and clean background. IMHO the image would be killer if there was a little better eye contact on the parent but I'd be happy enough with the action you've caught.

    I like the soft whites and shadows on the wings. A little more visibility of the parent bird's eye would've been nice.

    Another big welcome, Kurt. This is a very strong image. The action is super. I agree about wishing the parent's eye were more visible. I also wonder if a tad brighter would make it pop more without ruining the whites?

    Agree with Ed on making pushing the highlights a bit. But a great shot anyway and the clean background helps.
