This was taken today as the anhingas were busy nest building at Wakodahatchee. They now have their bright colored mating eye which really adds to their beauty.

I like the eye contact through the nesting material but wish for a better wing position.

Judy...didn't know they breed in this season out there. Loved the sharp frozen pose.

Like the fact that the bird is carrying nesting materials as it adds interest.

The shadows on the rear 2/3rds of the subject and the bright busy background detract in my eyes.

No detail in the dark parts. Maybe fill flash would have helped.

Well captured, Judy Lynn !! Nicely isolated by selective focus from BG.
Thanks for showing as the species is different to our Australian bird.
    Best regards

This is a beautiful image. Background doesn't bother me here at all, as usual with complex backgrounds. The anhinga looks so graceful taking off with the nesting material and I love its eye with the big white ring. Saving the best for last though is the tail. Very cool.

Lovely light and interesting 3D effect - sweet! If anything would crop off the top to make it a more standard horizontal.

Too bad the nesting material blocks so much of the head. Did you get any more with some different wing positions?

I do like the backlit tail feathers!
