    Default High Pass Sharpening Action

Hello everyone. I did this as an answer to another posters request for sharpening help. Hope it can help you too. There is NO sharpening answer that works for every image, but this is a quick action that can work wonders. I made it after trying several versions, finally combining the best parts of each into one Photoshop action. This was designed in CS3, so it should work well in CS4 as well - but I'm not sure about previous versions (ie. CS2, CS1, etc).
The PS Action is available for free as a download from my site. Let me know if you have any questions or problems. I'm always glad to help.

Just to pass along a question that came up. With the way this action is set up, you will NEED more than 1 layer to run this action. So, if you only have a background layer - just add a new empty layer and run the action. Easy peasy.
For those that want to be able to adjust the "High Pass" filter amount, just click the dialog box to the left of "HIGH PASS - Radius: 4 pixels, this will allow you to set your own value.

Dave, I will download it at home later. I like that you allowed for selective sharpening. Very nice to share this.Thanks.

Robert & Denise, my pleasure. One of the things that I do is to "over-sharpen" the High Pass layer (leaving it at full opacity) - just so I can see the results, especially as I'm "painting" in the areas that I sharpen with the mask - then, once I have painted the areas I want sharpened, I will reduce the opacity of that layer to an appropriate sharpness level. Hope this helps.
