    Heron photographed with Canon 1D MII 100-400mm @400mm F8, ISO 400 With beamer (550EX) set @ 50mm Sun was very low & behind him.
    Please let me know the Pro's & Con's. All comments welcome.

    I like the dark bg, and you did well with the exposure, but the head angle is slightly away. Head angle is all important for this type of portrait, IMO.

    Looks like you handled the light pretty well. I like the hint of sweet light on the back of the neck.

    The bird is looking away just a bit so a better head angle would have helped.

    Everything looks pretty sharp, but there is some noise in the BG, did you sharpen the whole image or just the bird?

    Pros: nice subject and COMP.

    Cons: Whites are overexposed and head is turned away from you. Looks as if you needed to dial in more underexposure...

    Thank you all for responding to the shot. I would not have even thought of the head angle. I've been doing Landscapes too long. So these are my first attempts at shooting birds, whether their stationary or in flight.
