The snake was actually photographed while it was in my jon boat. We store the boat on shore, upside down so it won't accumulate rain water. I flipped the boat over with my fingers about 6 inches from the snake. He was as surprised as I was and very accomodating while I ran up to the truck and got my camera. I took a few shots and then shooed him out of my boat. I was a little uneasy about the fact that within only a few seconds, he zipped under some pine needles and leaves and was totally out of sight.

Needless to say, I now wear very thick leather gloves when I flip the boat over.

I selected the snake and put it in a new document with the same background color as the boat and added the little memory jogger jingles.

Patti, Very clever! I love the jingle and hope to remember it when it counts. The photoshop work is very nicely done. I like the color combos. Yellow/red/black and then the boat color-well thought out.

    Nice image and application, Patti.

Understand your "joy" in finding it and then in also "loosing"  it in the leaves. I'm not a big fan of snakes, unless they are far out of reach and preferably under glass!

Nice rendering though with the BG and colors.

Patti - really clever image. I think they're so beautiful but can never remember the jingle. I think if the
head is black they're coral snakes but I'm never sure.

Thanks Denise and Mark. I don't mind snakes as long as I see them first. When I get too close and spook them and didn't even know they were there - that's when I get worried.

Thanks Cheryl. They are very pretty snakes.

The non-venomous milk snake has a black head too, but on it (as well as the other non-venomous look-a-likes), the yellow and red bands are separated by a black band. If the red is touching yellow (as on a traffic light), stay away. Or, do what I do and stay away from all of 'em. :)

Very nice Patti. I DO like snakes and used to keep several. The California Kingsnake is another benign imposter, having the same markings only the black and yellow bands are reversed like the Milksnake. Do be careful around these Coral snakes, they usually don't bite but if forced into a corner they can and will do damage.

Very clever Patti, I personally stay away from creatures with no legs:) Well thought out composition. You should try marketing it somewhere.
