I finally got some decent weather to make some images. This was from my yard today.

7D 500 f4. Evaluative metering at EV zero and ISO 200. F 4.5 and 1/800. This is cropped from horizontal to vertical and then trimmed top and bottom a bit.

    Thanks for looking. C&C welcome.

A lovely shot Ed! I like the detail and sharpness in the bird and it's separation from the BG. There are one or two mildly distracting elements in the BG, but it works for me as presented.

    Cheers!

Nicely done Ed. Lots of red in this finch. I like the perch and inclusion of habitat. I wonder if toning down brighter leaves would make any improvement. Dave

Hi Ed, Nice looking bird. Nice sharpness and colors. I also like the inclusion of the habitat. Toning down the brighter leafs might be worth a try. My only other observation is that if this were my image I would remove the out-of-focus leaf that touches the bird behind the head/neck. Thanks for sharing.
