Yet another BV capture at Giant's Castle. Decided on a pano crop to suit the flat profile of the bird. At the time I visited Giant's (spring, Oct 2009) some parts of the grassy foothills opposite the hide were green after managed block burning and others were still wintry brown. This made for an interesting BG, not to everyone's taste. In this image I liked the contracting BG colours. Cropped, selective levels & curves, sharpened. C&C welcome as always. Thx for looking:)

Hey Betsie - I like your pano crop. Light is falling beautifully on the leading edge of the wings and you can really see their airfoil shape that allows this guy to get aloft. Color is sweet on this one and bokeh is pure with nice diagonality. Cool head turn on this one as well. The shadowy area across the side of the face might be problematic on some monitors. I see it pretty well on my 24" high contrast screen so I'm happy.
I agree with Danny. I just wish you got something with a better wing position. In a way, this looks like a photograph of a horizontal line running from left to right on a background with diagonal lines.
Hi Betsie, your pano crop works well, and I like the gliding posture with the head turn. I feel you have brought out the detail and colours nicely, and the angled slope of the BG makes interesting viewing. Well captured.
