Previously posted in the Landscape forum. Learned an effect yesterday and so just tried it on this shot. What I did was, in ACR, raise "Fill Light", "Contrast", and "Clarity" to 100. What I didn't do but is also part of the "formula" to get that effect is to raise "Recovery" to 100, too. After that, I adjusted the result with "Blacks." If it's a color photo, you also adjust "Vibrance" or "Saturation" to get the look you want. This effect is supposedly very popular these days and you may have seen it in magazine applied to portraits, and you should be able to do that in Lightroom, too.
Thanks for looking !
In case you're wondering where the noise came from, just so you know the original was shot with D700 @ ISO200.

Desmond, This is a very interesting workflow and I will have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing. I might be tempted to crop quite a bit off the FG. and some off the top for more of a pano.
Very interesting workflow, Desmond. I like the high-contrast B&W and the layers in the image. I find the noise in the sky a little distracting, but not terribly.
