Simon Bennett may have posted a shot of this individual already. He was camped in a hollow about 30m from our tent at Bladensberg National Park in south west Queensland in July

Wonderful composition Rob. I like the simple but elegant combination of white, grey and brown tones and the texture of the tree.
If it were mine, I'd be tempted to clone out the small spike of white above the bird's head.

What a great shot! You did a great job with the exposure. I also like the composition and eye contact.

Wonderful looking subject and I like the DOF used here to show off the texture and depth of the hollow.

Great looking image of a very special bird.
    Is it the natural BG?

Hey Rob: How lucky were you guys to camp right next to this bird's little den. You did well to take advantage of that good luck with this image.

I do love this capture, and this so cute bird. :)
He seems just a tad over-sharpened tho...

    meant helpfully,

Well captured, Rob !! When I was Bladensburg in August I placed my hide near this limb while trying to get some birds coming to drink and noticed perhaps this very bird as it would edge up to look at what was going on. Took a record shot..should have persisted ...now that I see this magnificent image !! Small world you travelling 2000 klmand me doing the same from another spot in Australia and yet, we end up under the same gum tree with the same bird !!!

    Best regards
    Rod

    G'day Rosl
It was an overcast hazy day so the background is a bit high key in order to get the bird and trunk (which was in the shade) correctly exposed.

    cheers
    Rob
