I wish for a little more light on her right side and maybe move her from the center of the frame. Maybe even try a vertical crop. I love her expression and the alertness on her face. I find the foliage and purple flowers add to obscuring her body since it conveys a sense that she wishes to maintain a low profile with an eye on her next meal. I would be thrilled to call this mine.
Mike's vertical crop idea is good. i would put the lion on the left and the tree on the right. I like her expression and alertness. Good timing capturing that.
I like this as presented. The light is beautiful and dark background makes it dramatic. The comp works for me but it might have been fun to try some others as suggested. Perhaps a vertical, ot moving the lion near the right side of the frame if there was more black space to the left.
I don't like the black spot on the bottom right. It is distracting. If possible, I would have moved slightly to avoid that. I would also have tried out a vertical shot. I would have tried a little more depth of field. Equipment description and exposure would have helped to visualise the scene better.
What a beautiful lioness or is it a young male perhaps? I like the alerted pose, the lighting on the fur and the surrounding purple flowers. Nits IMO are the centred placement of the lion and the shadow in the BRC. A vertical cropp would indeed solve these issues.
