A male Lesser Goldfinch on what I believe is a Dwarf Juniper perch that I selected the other day. The nice thing about juniper perches is that they last a long time without water.

Although ideally the perch would merge with the birds breast, I really liked the warm light and autumn BG here.

    Aidan:

    Nice colors, exposure,BG, composition.
sharp on the eye, but I find the shallow DOF a bit distracting in this case. It is an interesting perch, and I wish it and the rest of the bird were more in focus.

Hi Aidan. Nice pose, perch, and background. I would agree with Randy that more DOF would make the image much stronger. :)

Hi Aidan - Beautiful color here and I love the bokeh. Perch not too bad either. I'm surprised that F/5.6 didn't catch a little bigger slice of the critter. Nice image though.

Nice image overall, and I like the marbled BG. Good perch too. I know you deliberately chose this comp to include the complete perch tip, but I think it could be sacrificed by cropping some at right to better place the subject within the frame. Very well done!

Love the light, perch and the birds pose. The DOF is a little too narrow for me on this one.
