I like the view, especially the shadowed mountains in the BG. Would/ve liked to see him a little higher so his back isn't so close to the distant ridgeline.

Hey Todd: A very unique shot and I sure look at a lot of them, on this site alone. I would have been pretty excited to come home with this one in the can. Better light would have helped but I'm not complaining!

Steve, thanks for your comment. I hadn't thought about that, but I think your right. Luckily I was able to get several shots of this guy from various angles, I'll post some soon. I am wondering why this image is so pixelated, it doesn't appear that bad when opened from the file on my hard drive. Any ideas?

You're welcome. This site got me looking at backgrounds before I take my shots. You don't want to know how many pics I got of animals with trees growing out of their heads. Looking forward to more of these guys from you as my own collection is rather small considering where I live. As for your posted image being pixelated, I'm not seeing that at all on my end.

Danny, thanks. Like the horizon problem, had I thought about it even using the built in flash on the d300 would have been enough he was so close!
The pixel problem was on my end, Opera browser was reducing the size to allow faster loading on slower networks, so I was viewing a 26kb version.

    Hi Todd,
I agree with Steve. There is not much of drama in the sky. More of those distant mountains would have been good. I wish for better light. Some fill flash would have definitely helped. Look forward to other compositions. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

I like the way you positioned the mtn goat looking over the valley. The light is a little harsh. Maybe coming earlier in the day or later in the evening would have helped. Of course, the goat has to be there!!:)

I prefer the goat as presented, below the ridge-line. Any higher and the ridge-line would go through the goats back.

I was thinking more like a level of below the beard or even lower to the level of the jutting rock. Gives it more of an elevated, looking down on the valley feeling for me.

goat position mentioned but I would also love having this one in the bag. great expanse behind him and the exposure with rim light works well!
