Wow, thanks to Arthur Morris and his BAAbulletins, I found this wonderful new page! I am sure, I will love it!
I say hello to you with my picture of a shag, bringing his catch to its chicks...
I made the picture in summer 2007 at Farne Island, Scotland.
I used my Canon Mark IIN and the Canon 100 - 400
    f 6.3 / 1/800 sec. / ISO 400

Best whishes for 2008 from Germany,

    Big welcome Rosl!!!

I am loving this image, impressive quality of light, great action, perfect DOF for my taste, contrast is just right.

My only nit is that is your and not mine :)

This image is very appealing to me Love the precise point of focus shadow detail on head and the strong colors in the mouth !!!! Sweet as presented !!!!

Willkommen, Rosl! I like the composition and the fish adds to it. I only wish for a bit wider DOF so the upper part of the bill would be in focus, too.

    Viele Grüße!

Amazing capture, a little more DOF for the tip of the beak would send this over the top! Welcome to BPN!

I too agree that a bit more DOF (my taste) would make this a killer image. Other than that small nit pick. I totally love it. :D

Folks, it would be nearly impossible to get that whole bill in focus, head on, at 400mm heat portrait.
Another option for the PS savvy is to take another frame focusing on the tip of the bill and merge the exposure, providing the bird cooperates.

    Welcome Rosl,

The details and composition are fantastic. I really like the eyes and of course the fish.
