Hi Scot, I find the composition pleasing. The light seem a bit harsh but I think you handle the exposure well. It appears to me that your critical focus point was in the area of the bird's breast and wing. The head appears soft which maybe due to it being angled away thus taking it out of the plane of focus. As I am sure your aware from reading critiques on this site that an image with the head angled toward the viewer is generally favored. Focusing on the eye and/or increasing the ISO so you could bump the f-stop to increase your depth-of field might have helped here. Perhaps some addition selectively sharpening the head would help enhance the presentation.

Good looking colours and it is nice to get the full side view of bird. HA is off just a tad from making direct contact with viewer. I like the idea of cropping a bit from bottom and right so bird appears off centre in lrc. Good catch. Dave

Nice one Scott. Still feels needs more room in front and the head angle not ideal as facing away. Good sharpness and processing. Compositionally, feelings are oft subjective, so I have added a Golden section to show what I mean. Don't personally use this much and was introduced this method of viewing /testing an image by a friend from South Africa, but it IS USEFUL to show, and does miss the spots. me, my eyes are good enough..... :D
