He was gathering acorns on the ground covered with leaves. Hence, the habitat is a bit cluttered but thats the way it looked when I took the shot - so now you are there too - I blurred it a bit to help the eye stay on task.

Seems like ground shots are usually busy, just thought this was cute!

Hi Jeff, The FG is a bit distracting, the colors are great, love the acorn, great pose, I like it.

Nice light, I like how I able to see the detail inside the beak. The acorn is a plus. I also like how you leave room at the bottom for virtual feet. You did a good job in blurring the surrounding except the one near the body, look a bit funny there. Maybe a tiny bit more room at the left.

Thanks for the great feedback, this was not the best combo for this image. I took more pictures today and used a smaller aperture with a slower shutter to address Craig's comment about the FG DoF.

    Today, I converted f/4.0 1/4000 to f/8.0 1/1000 keeping the ISO at 400.

Thanks AL, probably 15 feet. I have other images where I used a smaller aperture, looks better with FG more in focus. Might post them later, same behavior. You should have seen the J's flying down from the trees hunting acorns and then flying back up to open their treasures - it was a blast.
