This is another Costa Rica shot from 2007. I was shooting without a tripod or flash then. This hummingbird owned a patch near the house. He was only there in 2007. I have to go up in the hills to get them now. I have a picture of the female on a nest that I will post tomorrow. She looks very different with a cinnamon chest. Vertical crop taken from a horizontal shot. IQ is not the best but I still like it. All C&C welcome.

Nice sharp green hummingbird Jim,nice background too. But I see a little kind of halo around the bird.

But a nice picture overall. These fast birds never sit's still for a long time,to make that kind off picture. We don't heva them here at all only in a zoo.

Very nice specimen here Jim! I like the overcast light, and simple comp (although I wouldn't mind seeing the bird a bit lower in the frame). You could also tone down the lighter parts of the perch. Well done!

BG really complements the bird and I like the perch. Those colors are amazing and the eye is super sharp. I too would like to see him a little lower in the frame and maybe clean up his beak also. Congrats

Lovely colours & detail. Like the BG, eye contact & HA. Ditto a bit less space at the bottom. Still well done.

Nice one Jim, ideally we look for a perch that is on some kind of angle, but the beauty of this bird sure takes over the image.
