These formations were photographed north of Page, AZ in Utah about 35 miles south of Bryce Canyon with my Canon 5D Mk II at sunset. The rich reds are even more enhanced with the low angle of the setting sun. ISO 200, f/8.0, 1/320 sec, EF24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM, 70mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Richard, Really interesting formation. The color tones are lovely. I like the way you cropped this.

Hi Richard - colours and patterns are very interesting - might have gone with some more DOF if you had a tripod with you.
    Cool :)

Lance, we had been hiking and photographing since 5:00 am and we came upon these guys around 4:30 pm. We had to hike for about 20 minutes and by that time all I carried was my camera and a lense. Next time, I definitely bring the tripod.

Hi Richard I think if you eyeball the hyperfocal distance you will be in the ballpark, try focusing one third of the way in !!! Love the shadows on this one !!! Big Congrats !!!

Nice presentation of the horizon line, lots of land and little sky.

My wife and I drove the state of Utah 5 years ago (stopped at most of the Nat parks) but I was not into photograph then, pity. Well, I have to get a do over.
