    Default Osprey

Hi all, Took this beautiful adult female about to have lunch. I have posted 1 time on this forum and I'm a little nervous. Not that I'm worried about negative CC--I really want that---that is the only way to get better. I'm nervous because this is the best bird forum I have ever seen and the posts here are so incredibly awesome--I want to do learn as much as I can---This was taken in St. Augustine with a Canon 7D, 100x400mm, 5.6, AV, 400mm focal length, 1/2000, iso 400--The weather was really overcast and the time was about 12:30. I should have worked on her eye to make it a little sharper. Been at this hobby for a couple of years and it's hard to describe the feeling I get when I photograph these magnificant creatures. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Thank you

You gotta be happy here Steve! Great shot and sharp as nails. You can see she is about to land, the concentration in her face really gives that away. For an improvement IMHO I'd like a little more space pretty much all around and some head/wing separation as they kind of merge together like this. But you do have some great underside details with solid exposure control!!! Thanks for sharing. Don't be shy mate. :)

Steve glad you jumped into the deep end. I recently started posting images on here and am learning a lot. I would add more canvas all around with more at the bottom and left of the image so the Osprey has room to fly into that area. Looking forward to seeing more.

    Hi Steve,

I'm new on here too, and totally unqualified to critique most of this group's work... let alone any BIF shot. But I just wanted to say that I saw the earlier frame you posted from this sequence in another forum recently. and said then that one was a nice capture. I've just gone back to compare that one to this... and this is sharper and has richer color.

    Very nice indeed I say,

    Kenn

You have a winner here. The details are great and the pose is excellent. I agree about the addition of canvas.

I assume this is full frame - great details and you handled exposure well given the conditions. agree on some space needed all round. I would also brighten the eye a bit. wish it was mine!

Steve: Nice image! I love that concentrated stare. I miss these birds around here now. We have to wait until March when they return.

Nice and sharp with good underwing detail. You might want to lighten up that eye a bit. It will make a big difference in impact.
