Nice flight image William. It does appear a little soft but perhaps that's at this size. Why not post at 1024 pixels wide and that may make a difference? Love the banking pose! Well done! :)

Great subject and a nice BG. The bird is soft due to the shutter speed of 1/200. I posted a Crane flight shot at 1/200 today but I was going for a panning blur. If you're going for sharp and you're shooting wide open, you've got to push your ISO to get the shutter speed faster. On a subject such as this SEO, you could also underexpose a bit to gain some shutter speed.

I like the gliding pose, angle and soft light. Another vote for increasing the ISO for higher shutter speed and I would give it a bit more room on the left 'to fly into'.

Good catch, William, Nice to know you have some owls up there. Send some down here, will you?
Excellent pose---wishing for more room and a bit more sharpness. Good ideas have been mentioned.

Lovely flight pose William. ss has lead to some softness and worth considering how far some sharpening can help for posting at this size. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely angled pose and eye contact. Was this a big crop? That may have contributed to the softness and BG noise texture at ISO400.
