This morning I got real lucky and came across my first osprey, and one with its prey at that. I got lots of chances at the guy who was high up in a dead tree, and this is my best one. I realized afterward that I should have dialed up some minus EV (I think). I cropped a small amount away (about 20%), and did some NR and sharpening in Elements, as well as other minor adjustments.

Hi Wendell - did you do NR on the whole image??? Seems to be some loss of detail - head and wings area seem to be quite smooth on my screen.???

    Stroke of luck, Wendell!

I think Lance is right, you seem to have NR'ed the whole thing. Super image - worth spending some more time on it.

Color select on the blue sky, make a new layer and NR only that layer - should be easy.

Then make the same selection, invert it, make a new layer only of the bird and branch only, and sharpen that.

    Way to go!

Lance and Gerald, sharp eyes , and you are exactly right, I did run NR on the entire image. And this after you, Lance, have warned me about it in the past. In mod terminology, "My bad!" I will now re-work the image properly. Thanks again for the keen critique . . .
