Dave, I like the color tones and the painted effect. The texture is very nice also. I am back and forth about the bird myself. On one hand it seems to balance the comp. but on the other hand it holds too much of my attention.(maybe it is subliminal)

I really like the work with the rock, makes for an interesting image...on the fence about the bird....I like the idea of a bird in the image but I guess my birders eye, tells me, its not really a bird just a shape (hope you know what I mean).

Whatever bird you use in this image will change the size of the rock (perspective)...I've used a black-headed gull, your river rock looks massive, and could be cliffs along the ocean.
If you used a soaring hawk it would look like a rock up in the mountains..etc

Just an idea to think on.....thanks

More than an idea Paul....that is perfect. Your insight/critique is most helpful and appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time. BTW, the rock is about 3' across

Very nice image, Dave. The textures and colors are great. Good idea on adding a bird, though you might want to blend the bird a bit more so it looks less like a cut-out.
