This is from a feeder setup in my backyard. 40D, 300mm 2.8L + 1.4 TC, 1/320, f/4.0, no flash. Cropped some from top and bottom, cloned out small amount of suet from lower left corner, used USM and NR.

Great pose and BG Joel, light is dramatic and interesting.

I like the pose and the straight tree trunk, light is nice colors are good too. Looks like this was a very tight crop as the bird lacks feather detail, I also see some veritcal bands in the BG, most likely posterization effect from blurring/NR. TFS

I like the overall feel to the image, and the typical nuthatch pose. A bit centred as is, I'd definitely crop away half the thickness of the trunk and then some off the top. Some fill-flash would have helped with the shadow on the bird's neck/breast. Apart from said shadow I like the subdued light - nice BG too (but there is a clone mark inside the divet in the trunk).

Great nuthatch type position and background. The white spot at the base of the bill is somewhat disconcerting.
The sky reflection in the eye makes it look sort of unusual even though completely natural.
Someone mentioned flash and would have given a little eye pop and not natural may have improved the picture, but a personal preference.
Great aged beat up log/tree set up.
